I think with lots of finger contact, strings go very dull quickly. The reason I exclusively use(d) Thomastiks is because they sound the same after a few hours/days/weeks as they do when you first put them on. Which was essential for recording. I found too many strings needed to be "played in" otherwise they would be overly bright then go overly dull in a short time (like over the course of a recording session)
I use the spectrum bronze, they are not coated.
What are those coated strings? tried them yonks ago, what a load of shit!
