i haz googled and i see they iz coated.
never got on with coated strings myself. athough they do retain something a lot longer, i always felt they lacked something else right from start. plus they feel funny.
my bass player has them on his squier jazz though. that feels and sounds pretty cool. but then, i like flatwounds on a bass so that would make sense.
