i'm doing it this year on 48x16 so should be alright. got up the beacon alright last weekend
Omg some unhuman power! Me and my friends did London to Brighton ride two weeks ago and I have to walk up Ditchling Beacon on 48x16 (and must admit couple of other hills on way). Well I guess I need to HTFU

Forum finger buffet on the beach? This is not a bad idea.
Sleep deprived physical wrecks trying to barbecue burgers is a bit of a long shot really, nice in principle but don't really see it working.

i'm trying to convince the ship at dunwich to open up early for us if we're all up for a proper pub lunch (i.e. breakfast), will see what they say...
personally i'd much rather a nice meal than the cafe food.

I was going to say that. Cold pizza or sandwiches would be awesome.

Would they be open to a load of smelly tired cyclists though?

No worse than a load of smelly tired locals.

me too. i promised them lots of lovely paying customers very early.
but obviously they might have guests staying and wouldn't want them disturbed, plus possible licensing restrictions.
they serve their guests breakfast from 7:30-9:30 though so it might have to be 9:30 at the earliest...
anyway they're getting back to me.
what time will most people arrive to the beach anyway? i completely lost track of time last year.

Can't be bothered to read all ^ that. Skimpy mentioned there may be some room on an additional bus. If so I'd like to come along.
Can someone bring me up to speed?

Find the list, add your name to the bottom, see what happens

Read the thread.

^ Aye. It'll make the ride seem easy in comparison.

Well that was a complete mission. If a second coach becomes available I'll put myself on it but this +1 situation is a bit sus'.

Oh and for anyone not wanting to read 1000 posts:
Big night ride which has become over-subscribed by weekend pootlers. Forum bus and a truck arranged to carry you and your ride (reapectfully) back from Dunwich to The City sooner rather than later. Tickets in LFGSS shop intended for members but this appears not to have been upheld. Potential second coach/truck seems hopeful.

benjam, if you arent on the list how can we know that you want to have a coach seat? what if everyone did that? there would be no second coach. also if we do get enough people for another coach and decide to go ahead with it and you arent on the list you wont get the double secret early pm that we might be sending out, notifying that the tickets are in the lfgss shop and therefore you wont get a ticket anyway ;-)

I couldn't see where the list for the extra bus starts and the list of those with tickets ends. If you could add me to the former I'd be much ablated as I'm on my phone.

I was toying with the idea of making a million* rather boring sandwiches (cheese. or peanut butter. something that isn't too labour intensive to prepare) the day before, chucking them in the direction of the van and allowing the starving masses to consume once arrived at dunwich. a bbq clearly trumps this, but requires more on-the-day effort.
*not actually a million
