Going back to the conversation about recruiting new players and advertising our sessions, www.meetup.com is a good place to advertise athletic group activities for free... you create a group and diary 'meet-ups' for every wednesday and thursday at Preston Park you just need someone to set up, monitor and update the account, which is pretty simple from the looks of it

We should get the Thameslink train from Brighton to St Pancras with bikes. We'll need to set off around 8.30 to make it in time.

Already on the list. Going camping all weekend so I'll be going up from East Grinstead. Aiming to get there for 9ish for a couple of hours of throw ins before it all kicks off. That's my plan at the moment anyway...

So, exactly how many people are going to London on Saturday? That is, how many of us are travelling by train? I am looking at group tickets and up to 5 people is £45.
-
• #1961
Yeah, go to London Bridge, Newington is just down the road, and if it rains, the indoor court in Peckham is only another 10 minutes away. St Pancras is about 20 minutes from Newington

Dice. I think there's 5 of us going up, but only 3 from Brighton station - your good self, Tim and Julian. Danny's in Essex and I'm going from a campsite near East Grinstead. Not sure if anyone else is making the effort. Open day return is about £15.
Thanks John. Good to know there's an indoor option. Looking forward to tomorrow. Chris.

Are we just gonna day return it? What's the deal with group tickets for 3 peoples?
-
• #1965
WALL OF TEXT APPROACHING
Group tickets are set at "up to 2", "up to 5", "up to x". Pretty rubbish if you ask me, you'd need 5 people to actually make a decent saving. I think cheap day returns, leaving after 9am, are £18 and an "up to 5" ticket is £45. Saving £9 total for 3 of us but meaning we have to travel together on specified services.
We should aim to leave after 9am anyways, Registration is at 11am so that'll give us loads of time. Brighton to East Croydon then change for London Bridge on Southern Trains because they have a dedicated bike space. FCC doesn't have this and their trains are poky, air-conditioning-less sardine tins on wheels.
9.19 from Brighton (with change) gets us there for 10.17 - How's that?

Sounds good :) Meet at the station at 8.45? And if we leave at 9.04 its £10 return National Rail Enquiries! Or £13.35 super off peak day return/open return Southern Railways!
