The Norwich to London train (I know it far, far too well) has a guard's carriage. It might officially take six, but you'd easily get more in there. I've also never reserved a space for a bike, in maybe 100 journeys. Obviously DD day is different, but I reckon they'd let you put 20 in there if you were nice and polite.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- if, at the middle of this week, there are enough forum usernames on a list,

+1 is not a forum username. That said, he's a busy chap who's requested 19 seats out of the 45 on the list. I'm not trying to be mean, just pointing out what the coach organisers keep saying.

I'd add my name to the list, just to help make up numbers, but I don't think that works without me losing my existing seat, which would then go to somebody on the new list, effectively just swapping seats.

^ why would you want to do that anyway? your seat is booked ok. judging by the speed that this list is going up we wont have a problem to fill a second coach...

saying that I totally agree with you ^ i see only approx 29 people on that list. people need to be signed up and the +1's removed.

You could bring a BBQ on the ken cycle, it's not like you'd notice the additional weight.

i'll put one in the 'basket', then i can grill and ride at the same time.

I think I'm going to book a train from beccles It's 20 miles up the road from Dunwich.

According to the National Express East Anglia website if you take your bike from Colchester to London you do not need to book and it is free of charge. May be a goer, bear in mind the further away from Dunwich you get the easier it may be to get on a train, especially if it is on a different line to the Ipswich one, however I do not know if this is the case. Still debating with myself whether I should cycle there and back / there and part of the way back.

Will be 48x16 (79 inches?) doable for this route? I’m running a single speed

I punted the idea of a beach BBQ last year, simply bring the stuff to London Fields, stick it in the van, et voila. Doing this as a group might be a logistical undertaking too far, so I reckon if you want a disposable BBQ and meat waiting for you in Dunwich, sort it out yer sen, I'm sure the van would have no problem accommodating your gear.
