+1 hardknott is fucking obscene on the western approach.
Ridden it plenty of times on mountain bike, with that its mostly a task of trying to keep on the thing and not humping off the back. would not look forward to it on a roady.
Went out with a few mates on motorbikes, didn't have one of my own at the time so borrowed a mates brand new BMW 600 thing (dunno what it was called, quite light weight for a BM, 600-750 size and orange?) coming up the switchbacks on hardknott could not get the fucker into 1st on such a gradient so ended up in the steepest part of the road, stalled out, on an unfamiliar bike, leant over, foot on the rear brake squeeking it backwards down the pass eventually into the grass.
Egg, face? Yes. Much.
