Heat them up with a blowdryer, then pull/scrape away. Remove any leftovers with petrol/acetone/paint thinner.

^ that. If their self adhesive types they should peel off easier if warmed up.

Use a hairdryer as opposed to a blowtorch. Both are effective, one more so than the other.

get some 'sticky stuff remover' get it from larger supermarkets and decent hardware shops for a couple of quid, lasts years per bottle, scratch into the sticker with something plastic so as to not damage paint underneath, then dab on and leave it a few minutes. It dissolves almost all glues in minutes leaving a mushy mess, more liquid and the residue will just wipe off.

Stick your frame in a green house or airing cuboard get it nice and warm then try to remove the decals.

If they were under the lacquer, what are my options?
I've seen videos where people use a stanley knife to cut through the clearcoat just enough.
But im thinking a new paint job is really the only answer?

Very carefully wet sand the lacquer lightly, remove decals, the re-lacquer.
How thick is the lacquer? If only thin, heating up with hair dryer may be enough to let you peel them off.
Stanley knife sounds like a clever approach for those of a steady hand....

Very carefully

I have a hairdryer but its not amazingly hot.
how long should it take typically? How should I begin the initial tear?
Just with my fingers or a knife? -

You're reading into it too much, just warm the stickers up and peel them off.

cover them with stickers

Okay the reason I ask is that Im blasting my frame with a hair dyer and there no chance of getting at the stickers.
They are well under the clearcoat.
Couldn't see why any manufacture would put stickers on after clearcoating it.My plan is to cut though it and then remove the stickers.
here is a bad picture of it
I bought a bew fuji track classic a couple of months ago and since then I've been trying and failing to get some of the stickers off of the frame, like the one that shows the size and the 'made in taiwan' ones. Some of them came off ok, but some of them won't and look gash. Any tips?
