  • Actually, I've been thinking with toying with the final section before the return leg for a while, you could try it next week if you like.

    After the excellent blast along the white road (the section after the short sharp drop off the main A20), you do the right then left down into Farlingham village, then take the left which leads you back towards Eynsford. Instead of turning right and taking the road back up to the motorway, carry on to the end of the road and turn right. Follow this road under the railway viaduct, then take the next right which is signposted for Eagle Heights Bird Of Prey Centre. Up the short, straight hill (reminds me of something from a Belgium classic), then do a right at the t-junction at the top. At the end of this road is the top of the original route, so it's left then left again for the blast back to St Mary Cray.

    If you get there with some daylight left you'll get some lovely views of the Darenth Valley at the top of the climb, including the railway viaduct. There's also loads and loads of poppies in the fields around that area.
