Cheers Canaidan, I may well take you up on the offer and can ride out to you one evening this week. Gonna take 31trum's advice and try a few more local shops but had little luck with that approach so far.

Say what?
I'm off to France avec le velo and the UK baggage handlers on my last trip put it onto the luggage carousel and I got to watch it slide down the little ramp and smash into the metal barrier at the side. Nice. Their french counterparts on the other hand were extremely careful and even asked about where we were riding, who we thought would win Le Tour etc.
So what I want is a pair of spacers to fit in my forks like they have at the bike shops and protect the dropouts. I asked at evans and at condor and neither had any to hand over. I could just fashion one out of a piece of wood and some washers but if anyone has some spare ones lying around then let me know.
Ta.
