we need to be close to goldsmith's college (New cross) but want to live in greenwich borough for school for my son.

blackheath, greenwich are the main areas...just testing the waters a little further west and south to get the feel for the area.

looking for a 2br place.

not going to get a place without seeing it, but I am starting to look now to get an idea of what the rent in areas looks like so when we get there fresh off the plane some letting agent won't think they can give us the once over and charge us an extra 100/wk

Ahh, borough of Greenwich is a bit of a fucker, most of that area is Lewisham.

Check the boundaries, then work from there.

Does it have to be Borough of Greenwich?

Anywhere round there will get you to Goldsmiths well enough.
