I use multi release, recommend them to anyone trying out clipless. Now have pedals cranked up to max, very rarely come out unwantedly.
Plastic surround on the spd pedals gives you the feeling of a platform pedal for spds. They are still awful to ride in normal shoes as the spd part is raised. Normal spds give me a hotspot, and don't feel as stable.
