Ma3k used to work for them. Maybe he could lay his hands on some useful tools? Or even just ask the bike hire operator? Again, as for barclays, it's good PR for them...

on the phone to barclays now...

My mate wanted to do London to Brighton on them and had a certain amount of correspondence with them...

.Greetings folks,
As per above, John Ma3k and Leon who is the brave soul riding one of these Boris bikes, chatted on the Ride East last Sunday, so think it all cool....
Just looking at the calendar and it's three weeks to go - yikes... Feeling really excited about this but also kind of terrified. It goes through Monks Eleigh which is the place where I was born 43 years ago.
Peace and Love,
Tim -

I bought some arm warmers at lunch - that's my training.
-
• #664
Um, I actually am training, is that lame? Did crystal palace to edenbridge, zigzagged down to Lewes in pouring rain, it finally cleared up a bit, did a nice gentle bit of the south downs way, very windy, beatiful light, dropped down to newhaven, ate a mars bar, slogged it out against the wind to brighton and collapsed on the train. Dont have a computer but reckon it was a ton due to detours and didnt feel fucked yesterday so pretty optimistic
I also bought some arm warmers in croydon. All set!

I'll look at getting another coach if we get up towards coach-filling numbers..
Otherwise, Southwark Cyclists are still selling tickets for their coach/ furniture lorry combo, or if some forumites want to club together for a minibus or sommat we could probably come to an arrangement to pop some more bikes in the forum truck. Drop me a PM if so. - skydancer

katie, do we know how many people we need to fill one of those minibuses? just so we have a number to work towards...guess itll be something like 21 I think,
so those on the list above^ we need a fair few more people to make it possible, so maybe a recruitment drive for the 2nd bus is needed.

i tried an evening ride into epping forest last week, mainly to see if my very sexy (ahem) front bar bag works. i need to get a light to go on it though as it totally obscures the actual ones. thinking of putting a petzl head torch on so it doesn't reflect back in me face.
anyway, is anyone interested in the odd jaunt out of hackney into epping forest?
-
• #673
Can it be done on a track bike or road bike? (I mean as is thin tyres and delicate frame/forks)
If so I could be... I've always wanted to go to Epping forest but don't have a hard wearing mountain/ trail bike:-(

... is this the thread for overnight to Suffolk coast? I was actually looking for the Dulwich Dynamo
^ this.
if it was sensible where would the fun be in that?
half the adventure is breaking down, getting lost, getting mugged, getting sick, getting soaked
