  • Tell me this. Are these students asking you to crit work of the quality you would expect from a 12 year old and then hoping to sell this work on and make money from it? My guess is that they are probably coming out with some half decent work and that as they are students and still in education, they are not yet tring to make their living from it.

You're missing the very simple point. Which is that if you have skills in a particular area, why not be generous and pass your knowledge on. There are people on this thread who have knowledge to pass on to make DF's product better, the same product they slag off, yet they choose not to help improve it. OK, their choice. If DF is expecting to get such help for free (as a business) then yes he's nuts, but I don't recall him ever having said that. I'd imagine (or hope) that if someone with the right credentials approached him they could work something out between themselves.

The problem with your arguments and plenty of those of others is that they assume too much without really knowing the facts. For example, what DF has in mind in terms of recompense should someone really help him out with a killer design. I don't know any of this either but instead of automatically assuming the negative as you are, I'm hoping for the reasonable and the positive from someone who has shown that they want to listen.
