Sorry I'm not that knowledgeable about bike parts, I just enjoy riding them! However you will be able to find plenty of people on here who no doubt can appreciate your lovely bikes on the same level as you.

Hey All,
I have just joined after lurking for ages - and have also requested to join the lfgss team for the tfl cycle challenge - hopefully I can add quite a few miles to the team's total, as I commute from Staines to Euston by bike most days.
BTW, my name is Richard and I have 2 fixed gear bikes - an old-ish Kona Paddywagon that has seen better days and a new Specialized Langster (groan, groan, but I had limited choice with the company cyclescheme). I also ride MTB lots (mainly XC, I have a Kona Kula Primo that has travelled to Wales, Scotland, Alps and Spain), a Felt road bike (for Triathlon duties) and a BSD Forever BMX (although my son has custody of that baby at the moment).
Take care, ride safe.
Richard.

I have one bike called 'Trigger's Broom' that started off as a specialized rockhopper which I converted and smashed up over the past decade or so ~ has had 3 new frames and countless new wheels and other bits and bobs hence the moniker. atm it is some sort of taped up indiscriminate affair with the wrong kind of brake levers and someone else's handlebars.
I rode fixed for a while a few years back but put a freewheel back on when I realised how slow I was riding...

also of note:
- I will ride my bike to the shop even if the shop is closer to me than my bike
- I fix my bike more often than I clean it
- I like buying components more than I like checking if they are the right size or shape
- I will ride my bike to the shop even if the shop is closer to me than my bike

Does this mean you will have some tasty spares to be flogging in the classifieds forum?

undoubtedly - right now i have misbought some cinelli pepper handlebars that hid from me under the bed until the return date was passed - might get a new stem that would fit them instead though, obviously without checking any specifics...

Hi guys, first time on a forum, bear with me. My SS is probably a bit different than the usual being a Santa Cruz Chameleon proper retro throw-back with Manitou 3s and all. Bought a Feather Cycles frame a little while back but not got round to building it up so it may end up on the classifieds in a bit (i.e. when I'm allowed to post there). Anyone else there into the more mtb/street riding side of SS?

Instead of start a new thread, 'cos I can't yet, I thought I'd bump this madness.
Alright, I'm alkali from GlasgowFGSS, I'm moving down to london in a few weeks time and thought I'd say hello. Also, and this probably isn't the right place to put it, I'm livid 'cos my GF has just moved down 3 days ago and she's had her bike nicked already! I'll not get my rant on here, but if anyone should see an absolute shitter of a Raleigh Wisp Mixte in blue with cross-top levers and slick tyres it's hers.
Maybe catch you about sometime.

This is my bike, it's a mid '50s Holdsworth Monsoon, I did a full rebuild over winter and if anyone is interested, here's the link to my demented ramblings on GFGSS. I don't expect the Glasgow site traffic to increase much... http://www.glasgowfgss.com/discussion/1994/1950s-holdsworth-project-or-commuters/p1

saying that it's now got bar tape and a brake and no mudguard, so it's a whole lot different

• #4245
That is very nice indeed.

Gives it an "I broke into this house with my bike to take this picture" ambience.
