I lived in Bellenden Road for the first month after I moved to London. I'll be visiting the new shop for the nostalgia as much as to see another South London bike shop.
BonVelo are just down the road from me; nice shop, nice people but an expensive selection of gear.

is Wilson's bike shop still there - on the corner of Bellenden/Peckham High St?
I haven't been down to Peckham for about 3 years. When I first worked in Peckham about 25 years ago, it was run by an elderly couple, then it was taken over by someone else who always seemed to be running on a shoestring - the shop was almost empty of bikes and bits, but they always got repairs done efficiently and never took the piss with their pricing.

yea its still there and still exactly the same, a couple of shit old mtbs and always seem to have a chopper in the window. but last time i went in for an inner tube they were out of stock, of all inner tubes!!!!!
also i did get a repair done once there, came back to find them doing up the lockring on BB with molegrips - so good for basics, but by no means high end.

5 minutes away...
yea its still theres, but by no means high end.
Steve Wilson of Wilsons is a bit of a legend too. It's definitely not high end but then it's in Peckham, so he's catering for the area. Bit like BC Bikes are. Steve's been around for ages though and really does know what he's doing.
I think we're spoiled for choice round here so the new place has a lot to live up to.

Yay a peckham thread! I'll have to put a chirp in for wilsons, they've always managed to have what I need, though I always know exactly what I want before I go so I won't get confused and buy the wrong thing. They also sorted me with meters of brake cable for peanuts which was great!
Will check out the new shop when it opens. Though it's location makes me think it'll be similar to BC bikes. The rent on bellenden road is pretty high I think.
Oh and how has nobody mentioned the chippy just down the road - it's called Codfathers!!!! yes CODFATHERS
Oh and the best chocolate shop ever, it's run by 2 slightly rotund french sisters. Hot chocolate you can disappear into, yum.
