I'm returning this
to it's former geared glory, (?) Just got a groupset for it... fitting panniers, sturdy wheelset, marathon plus tyres and randonneur bars for my trip.
I would rather travel quicker with less effort when the roads are smooth and take my time on the rougher sections, got pretty good dirt riding skills from years of mtb so not too worried about the narrower tyres/taller frame.
I also have a cx bike which i think would be perfect, but would rather take something less modern/desirable and made from steel in case I need any repairs doing.
