• I cycled around in SE-Asia for 5 months in 2009/2010, was an awesome travel. You should definitely do some biking there, will give you the opportunity to see the contries in an unique way and meet many friendly locals. In Vietnam the Mekong Delta is great for cycling, many small roads with little traffic there. I also enjoyed the Daklak-Highland, met the most friendly Vietnamese there and drank the world's best coffee there (i don't like overstatements, but in this case it is true). Anyways, the road I took trough the highland was too busy for my taste. When you are cycling in Thailand, the Golden Triangle is a good area. You should also think about going to Laos! Many untouched forests and great scenery there. Really great country for cycling and relaxing, but if you are looking for party, it is definitely the wrong place. Spent my new years eve in a random village in Laos, and even though I celebrated with some locals, I was in bed at 10pm.
Of course you can book a cycling tour, especeally if you are on a tight schedule that might not be such a bad idea. However, you won't get as much as you pay for these guided tours. And isnt it much more adventurous to plan your own tour? :) Also SE- Asia is easy for travelling, you will find friendly people, food and a place to sleep almost anywhere. By the way, you can always ask the Buddhist monks if you can stay in their temple for a night!

By the way, when you start your trip? I am back in Thailand for cycling in August ;)
