Thanks for the tip about tyres coming off.
I'd like Marathon Plus for about town. These tyres are supposed to be THE most reliable.
But I realize I am just being stupid hoping to use 37 on my SS bike, going over 32, or even over 28 would probably be a mistake.
The wheels currently are Velocity V bought yesterday off mrx http://www.lfgss.com/thread67241.html#post2224791 (thanks mrx if you are reading, nice guy, showed up on time, good deal); rim tape has 16mm printed on it. I want to switch to commuting tyres, consdering my skill level and needs (just using a reliable bike to save on bus fares!), but fitting 37mm would be ridiculous. Also slow. Slow is OK but too slow gets dangerous around Hyde Park Corner etc. Scares me shitless anyway, but a bit of acceleration helps.
