  • Harry'll live.. ;)

  • True, but you should see the hill he had to walk up to get to my house.

It takes a strong man weeks to recover from that.

  • always check the goods out before you hand over cash, it's what face to face buying is for. despite what some people seem to think it doesn't mean you're being tight. it's your money and in the grocer's you'll check a 30p orange out to make sure it's one you want.

if you're a decent forum trader you'll consciously encourage the buyer to check the stuff over if it's a face-to-face deal.. in someone's house everyone's got time to look at the goods but it's surprising if it's outside an office or shop how many people get something handed over and don't even check. being able to be happy with the goods before handing the cash over is why i personally prefer selling stuff on here to London buyers, especially if it's something big. I want someone to confirm they're happy cos I don't want to be sorting it out later if I can avoid it.

see, when I've dealt with colnago_costa in the past, by post, he has posted me items upfront, let me check them over first, then forward him payment if i was happy. Pure forum spirit right there!

However, since then he has changed his policy to not posting, so I wonder if someone took the piss with it/him... which is a shame.

  • That would be a shame indeed.

  • Just received a 0 rep from Skylark - "get a life"

Thanks for that... maybe you should sort yours out?

  • Just received a 0 rep from Skylark

yeah, me too, but mine said "thank you"
anyway, how does one give a 0 rep??

  • Neutral rep? What's the point? I can't remember how to check your rep again.

  • top of the screen - menus just below - look for "User CP" - click it - look just below - first from the left - "Control panel" - click - scroll a bit - there you are!

    or just go here

  • in brief neutral rep is when the person has a very low/negative rep score or is a noob... they don't have the power to affect "the system"

to see your rep click on user control panel and scroll to the bottoom.

  • very timely answer Malaysian =))

  • yeah you beat me to it, and even got a link in there... i feel inadequate.

  • hehe suit yourself to some rep my man

  • always check the goods out before you hand over cash.

it's moot but i think four months is really too long to come back and kick up any kind of fuss.

This is the face of it for me. Some nice common sense posting by pajamas there.

I'm posting here more to warn other people off the chap.

This is the other side of it. Reputation.

If someone less known on the forum had, had those wheels for 4 months then complained. We have laughed and meme'd the feck out of them. But Dammit is known and trusted. So he's taken on word. Personaly I think this is totally correct. Its how life works.

  • Hmmm I've bought Open Pros from folks on here and didn't really check them as thoroughly as I should have. In fact only after reading all this have I gone back to my current pair and checked them, and fortunately for me the braking surface seems OK.

(Not the pair I just bought from Sumo - those are mint)

So something good has come from all this, a little bit of knowledge on how to measure Open Pro wear has got around. And from Googling around it seems a lot of people have trouble with it.

Perhaps a 'Measuring braking surface wear' thread would be handy? The closest I've found to this is Breaking Surface Wear to Rim - which demonstrates nicely what happens if you don't check your rims....

  • I got this from skylark

0 Bad traders 15th June 2011 14:06 skylark If you don't agree with me way give reasons.

You're going to have a busy day if you're 0 repping everyone who doesn't agree with you.

I'm not sure what you're saying, do you want reasons why I don't agree with you?

Read all of the above ^^, seems we're all in agreement.

I may have to nerg your 0 which if that continues, you'll be worse off.

Why not just say 'sorry you've had a shit experience damnit' and be a bigger man.

  • All swings and roundabouts Dammit-get why you're annoyed but there has to be a degree of self-responsibility from the buyer and its part of the nature of buying second hand that there's a bit of risk.

I bought some wheels off here a while back as a cheap post-crash replacement and knew the rims were pretty worn (sold with the 'couple of seasons' caveat) but bought them thinking I could replace them... Just enquired about getting replacements from Mavic (dealer only parts apparently) and they no longer produce them any more, and I'm having doubts about the whole couple of seasons wear too...

I knew they were worn when I got em but it was my assumption I could still get the rims and I doubt the seller would have deliberately duped me so going to have to chalk it up to experience as my failing for not checking this out before I bought 'em!

^ this above is exactly Dammit's intention of warning people about the trustworthiness of certain sellers as well as urging people to check before you buy.

Dammit already paid the heavy price of £130 for a fucked wheelset, he just wanted to make sure others won't follow the same mistake he made.

  • ...I may have to nerg your 0 which if that continues, you'll be worse off...

i'm beginning to feel a little bit confused here. first, i didn't get a clear answer as to how does one give "0 rep". now, there's "nerging a 0", which is supposedly stronger that just "0 repping". wtf is this all about and how do i do that too?

in any case, it appears that "0 repping" actually doesnot affect anything, so is similar to PM, except a bit more hidden/secret

    hmmm, mystery of the day

  • I'm I the only cold hearted cunt, thats read this thread in reverse to get a most easily screwed over top ten?

pulls old commuter wheels off waste pile

    Really? just me?

    PMs Dammit

    Fairy nuef.

    You can't.

Only people with low rep can 0 rep. It's because their opinion is not valid.

    VB said so.

It's an algorithm that is complex, but based on trust. It could be summed up as, only those who have received positive reputation have their comments for others counted.
