  • Best tyre, not worst.

  • Bizarre that someone would think conti's budget offering would be any good, their top of the range ones aren't even any good.

What's a reasonable road tyre for 26" wheels that isn't expensive but works?

  • Conti Contact?

  • Jokes!

(Still saving up for Schwalbe Marathon Supremes)

  • I had some conti sport contacts on an old mtb years ago, they were pretty good!

  • I've only been using them for an under two weeks. So far so good. They're fast, but because only 1.3inch.
We had Schwalbe City Jets before on the GT and surprisingly few punctures within one season.

But then I'm not sure if my step-son knows what a rim tape is.

  • I did millions of miles on those cheap Geax things which were a thin slick wiggle used to sell. They never punctured in three years or even wore much, I had to throw them when the sidewalls split but I think that was beacause the bike was stored outside for it's entire life.

  • It's that thing... when you put on a cheap tyre and want to rid of it as soon as you're able to get something more expensive. But then they last and last. And last.

  • Most durable tyres I used - Duro Fixie Pops "Skidalicious Ones" - £9.99 from Planet X.
Indestructible, fast, grippy, skiddy, good off road, in wet, no punctures, but a real pain to put on.

  • Schwalbe Marathon Plus = Ugly...

  • Your mum's ugly.

  • Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX's but fancy giving Veloflex Masters a go.

  • Resist Nomad - high volume FGFS tyre.
Is it any good? Apparently made for the fixed gear crowd (as mentioned by Prolly), but is it really a durable skid and puncture resistant tyre or just a cushion for prancing on the marble street furniture?
Should I buy it or be more sensitive and go for Schwalbe Supremes and forget about the spare inner tubes?

  • Smallest size 35c?

    I'd go for the Supremes.

In fact, I've got an unused par in my garage I'll sell to you for a knock down rate - I've not got the clearance for them.

  • Too late

  • Why oh why, people offer stuff I ordered day before that? Same happened with the wheels.

  • Because you can't wait.

  • I've been waiting for long enough. It's just people tend to post for sale threads about 30 sec. after I press the enter in the checkout of an online shop.

  • No Gator Hardshells?

  • No because the list was made in 2009.

  • Oh, those Resist Nomads - they still show no sign of damage after a month of brakeless riding.

  • Specialised Armadillo every time if the aim is to avoid a puncture
