I've shipped my record collection from the US to the UK and back before and I have always used freight containers. You basically pay to share space on a shipping container (unless you have enough stuff to fill up a whole one). It takes a couple of months depending packing the container, when the ship leaves and customs clearance. I havent had a bad experience yet. Insuring your stuff is really important, if the ship sinks or something, your screwed without it.
