That's the equivalent of *joking *about *trying *to steal dinner money. Besides, it wouldn't work; if all the low numbers went and rode DD they'd never make it. We've all been riding fixed for years and have crippled knees...

I'll be drafting a whippet on a five grand focus. It'll be about 90 miles more than I've ever done in a day, but I'm preparing.

I will be doing it very, very slowly.
It took me about 30 hours to do there and back last time. I am hoping to do it in slightly less this time so I get back before my birthday on the Monday...

Anyone know where the prevailing wind generally comes from? Be nice to get some help on the way back. What was it like last time?
-
• #514
wind always comes from the direction you're facing

To be fair, the first time, It did include Lights that hadn't charged, a Garmin that died, A plague of flies, a detour to Ipswitch, a biblical thunderstorm, and a total of more like 27O miles on fixed with no sleep. :]

Ha. Reminds me of an election campaign slogan from a Holland few years ago, it happened to be April 1st. They campainged on the promise of "Smoother roads and A following wind for all cyclists"

I guess you could say that the wind normally prevails from the SW at this time of year but that means fuck all really.
As you get closer to the coast of East Anglia the weather does whatever it feels like, almost no point checking the forecast. Showers, storms and random winds seem to come from nowwhere sometimes.
I've done a lot of riding round there and can confidently report that I've never encountered Tornados, dust storms or raining blood if that helps.

We do sometimes have small tornadoes at the coast, and dust storms on the beaches. But you're right on the blood. No raining blood in east Anglia.

I did a circular century ride starting in Woodbridge in March going through Minsmere and Dunwich. There was heavy ice and frost when I set out. The temperature then rose to about 21 degrees and sunny. It then clouded over with a strong easterly wind before hailing with a strong southerly for the remainder of the ride.
I wish I hadn't decided to ride naked.

• #524
so did everyone you passed on the way.

Does everyone tend to take leg and arm warmers along on the rides? I'm not sure if I'll be ok to ride in shorts all night with a long sleeve base layer.
