Any suggestions for the team name and I'll register it?

I did this with my work last year, I logged miles done on the polo court and was suprised how much I was doing. If we get loads of people to do this we could win easily.

Genius! Did you use a computer?
-
• #7
Dave had a computer on his bike and one night was averaging 1 mile per game, so last year I used that.
I'm up for polo team. Only play polo once a week, but do 120 miles of commuting in that time and intend to do a bit of road riding next month.

Dave left his on once, I think he said he averaged about 1 mile a game?
Snap! ^

I thought he was doing more than that, I'm sure he logged 4 miles once? Anyway I just remembered how many games I played and times it by 4 and logged that.
pluss commuting and road rides.

• #10
Yeah I remember him saying something about 4 miles also. Be interesting to find out.

Per game as in for each throwin, so 4 miles in one night of four actual throwins?
Either way think it's a fair rule of thumb, I'm certain that a lot of people (doing circles) would average higher
-
• #12
4 miles for one throw in, so 6 games per night would be 24 miles.
sounds a bit much actually, depends how you play i guess, i come off court after one game sweating more than i do after my 5 mile commute to work so...i don't know what I'm saying really.
-
• #13
4 miles per throw in would mean going down the court around 50 times

So if I register us as London Bike Polo is that cool? Or would you prefer a different name?
-

Lpc

That's cool with me, I doubt many people will be too bothered about the name as long as it's not toally stupid.

Ok, so I've registered myself and a team under the name LPC.
To register go to: http://cyclechallenge.tfl.gov.uk/user/register
and I think you can just do a search for LPC and join... -

Hmmm I've been thinking about this and the forum group is more likely to win if we don't go splitting...
I think the polo group could turn a 1st place in group team into 2 non winning teams...
Justsaying...

i'm down for this...i'm going to dig out my cylce computer and rig it to all my bikes.
In that time period of measurment i should be able to rack up a few miles poloing with barca, road rides, going to lake district & surrey hills mountain biking.
might hook up my polo bike tommorr for a test

is it for uk only ?
I'm in Poland. But my heart is in London.
I know there is a team going in the genral section, but I thought perhaps the Polo lot + friends/wags/supporters might want to create their own team and if we would win any of the prices the money could be donated towards the London Open? Would anyone be interested?
To register for the London Polo Team go to:
https://cyclechallenge.tfl.gov.uk/user/register
"The Cycle Challenge is a competition to see which team can cycle the most miles in a month. Teams that come top win great prizes. It’s free to enter and is a great reason to hop on your bike. If you’re already a cyclist already, why not encourage your colleagues, friends or family to join you and give cycling a try this summer."
It's based on trust that you log your miles honestly, so do!
