Chris - already had a look in the thread, will probably look again when I decide what I want once the build gets going (style/colour, etc) but for now I'm after something cheaper to get it rolling.
Vince - nice looking wheels, but yeah, more than I'm looking to spend at the mo. Tight I know, but this month has been heavy!!

I've got set of Velocity Aerohead laced to Gran Compe hubs, rear fixed/fixed.
Wheelset was sprayed black (underneath they are green) by previous owner, not a very tidy job, and i was going to use them as my beater wheels, but i've got to many wheelsets at the moment.
Wheels run true, could do with new bearings, but still spin well.
£50 if you're intrested. -

Doktor P. - sorry for my newbness, but what would I need to do if I wanted to convert a fixed/fixed to a freewheeling SS? Would it mean using a new hub?

If i'm right, you can put freewheel on fixed side without any problem, same thread, just a bit (about 5mm) less of it.

OK mate, I'll have a think about it - whereabouts are you?

I've got a pair of Varno's DP18 wheels on novatecs that I don't need. They are a few hundred miles old and in very good condition. I'd sell the pair for half what I paid Varno...£90. I'm in SE8..you could collect or I would be happy to ride them within a sensible distance. No time to post...

Ok mate, I'll pm you in a bit....

Doktor P - I'll pass for now, I'm probably going to stay geared for a little while to see what I think, so would need a freehub ideally.
There's a guy here looking for a wheelset in London, sounds like what you have could be spot on for him? http://www.lfgss.com/thread66864.html
Stonehedge - no doubt a great price, and if this was next month I'd be seriously tempted, but a bit more than I want to spend at the mo.

Cheap, new, unused: I've got a pair bought for a project that never happened. Black Rigida rims, SS spokes, silver Shimano-compatible hubs, no skewers. £50ish. SE7 or work near Tower Bridge.

^^no worries, good luck with your search.

Stonehedge, possibly very interested in those wheels myself. Are they silver or black? I'm after silver.

Thanks for all the offers, but I've had a change of plan.
I've got a useable rear wheel, so for now the money is probably better spent on a reasonable front wheel, rather than a cheap wheelset. Then I can sort a matching rear as & when.
I'll start a new thread so as not to get confused in this one.
Looking for a cheap wheelset to get me rolling, will be used with rim brakes, pretty sure rear is 126mm but steel frame so will have some give. Will also be needing some tyres to go with them, but will buy new if nothing comes up.
Anything considered, but not looking to spend too much. Just after something to get the bike useable, can upgrade in the future as necessary.
