Pretty much on the money Russell. All the staff were beautiful ‘between-jobbers’, clueless (not their fault), not sufficiently trained and unable to answer questions about the food. Bit of an oversight, that. Things ordered didn’t arrive, starters came 10 minutes apart, Yas’s aubergine fritti were literally soaked through in oil, bordering on inedible, the accompanying aioli curdling and fluorescent orange; it was a real shambles. I had bone-marrow bruschetta to start; the marrow was hours off optimum condition, must have seen an oven for all of 30 minutes so it had the colour of John Major’s pallor and the texture of snot. Quite rancid. Pizzas dreadful – I had ‘crispy’ pork belly and mushroom – I’ve had crispier diarrhoea. But it’ll draw them in, the punters will eat worse than averagely and better than overpriced, and content themselves that it could have been worse and they didn’t want the booking to ‘insert latest place to be here’ anyway. It’s quite depressing actually; no service, charm, hospitality, idea or value for money. An enterprise opened for all the wrong reasons, and they can’t hide it. I complained, and that’s rare.
