Jezus effin' Christ.. Peter v, Dutch people don't have a clue..;) Hope you left him/her a note on the saddle that you wanted to buy it and bring it back to it's righteous state..
poor thing is corroded like nothing I've ever seen before, looks like it's never been cleaned either...
will have a look later today if it's still there or there again, at work in the bike parking, good idea to put a note on the saddle

Nefarious, although being partially correct, you can't but agree that any bike with aerobar extention, mtb mudguard and rear rack is very confused.. Let alone that bike being a Gios Torino..

My reaction exactly.

do you apply the same philosophy to your women?

I would consider trading my right nut for one of these tight clearance frames! I can't find an affordable one for shit! And certainly not one that I'd be prepared to let get ratty.
Just my 2p worth. -

What - that if I owned a lady, I'd ride her rather than just looking at her?
I'll have to get back to you on that.

But do you know it's confused? Surely you can only know that if you know the owner and how it's ridden. I'm just a little sick of so many people on LFGSS thinking/telling other people how they should be using their bike - especially the idea of an owner not deserving the bike. Yeah, we all see what we consider to be monstrosities on a regular basis and maybe the bike's potential isn't being realised but there's nothing sadder than putting a lot of time and effort into a bike (on both the part of the builder and then owner) for it to be left as a show piece.

Rat bikes to me are raw, 'who gives a shit how it looks'-bikes, I love them. The GIOS was perfect to post in the thread.
I also like saving classy Italian bikes like that from an early grave, especially if the owner couldn't care less if he was riding on a Gios or just a run of the mill Batavus or Gazelle.
I'm torn...

my new sentiment exactly, after been to copenhagen where there's so many obviously high quality beautiful bicycle in disrepair with panniers, mudguard and stem extension.
At first I was a bit peeved, but later realise it's better to be used than to keep polished up and rarely ride it, even if it's not for their intended purpose.
