but bmxed said the owner calls it his beater, he may have a lovely £3000 track bike for all we know, maybe he just built it for a beater and it doesn't look used...yet
its some ones beater, leave it at that
well no,
my bike has some fairly nice parts on it but i'll call it a beater cos it looks like shit,
£40 of stickers dosn't make a beater.from my own standpoint a beater/rat bike whatever has to at least look like its used and something you don't worry about locking up in town

Speaking of rats...
I've just picked up a decent 531 track frame (70's carlton - Campag ends) That currently has an awful thick and nasty powdercoat. One day when I have the moneys i would love to get a proper paint/restoration job done, but until then I'm gonna run it as my fixed runaround/beater. Don't want it to look to flashy. Options are:
Leave the powdercoat and deal with it
Strip it and rattlecan it black or similar
Strip it and Clearpowder - I live in brum so shouldn't cost more than £30 for powderAny ideas?

Strip it and Clearpowder if you have the money if not Leave the powdercoat and deal with it + sticker it up

Srsly though, leave it with the PC for now, I would. PC is better protection that anything else.

I think I'll deal with the powdercoat for now. It is awful though.

...and make it look like a Visp.

Give it a key and rattlecan it whatever colour is in the shed. Pointless stripping if your just gonna rattlecan it imo

This (post #519) is ace, but presumably you don't even need the handlebars - you could steer with your feet, maybe it would have to have a more reclined body position...
