^ I've done a bit of research and unearthed the serial number - Seems like for a while the 531 Raleigh's where built by Carlton at Worksop, Essentially the same bikes - Badged as Carlton's for the American market. Serial number put's it at 1974, built in Worksop. The only weird thing is it has a seperate number preceding the serial number '004' Which isn't mentioned at all in any of the raleigh serial listings i've found.
