ive been riding the same spds and cleats for about a year and a half now, i've never unclipped but then xander rides brakeless and does way more skidz than me. i shall be buying new cleats and pedals for ma new bike which will be brakless! there is a specific thread with a rather large discussion on the finer points of each retention system but at the end of the day there isn't one that is "better"
