go to aldi/ lidl/ wilkinsons, buy the cheapest packet of jubilee hose clamps (aldi they are 99p I think) then undo the screw bit and just use the metal band, if you get the right ones they will stack up under the mech band neatly enough. Generally they are made from stainless so won't rust or make a mess.
Got to say 6mm difference between an alu & steel seattube diameter that front mech might rock around, for 99p though, jubilees are worth a try. -

Thanks for that, just found some from wiggle for £2:50 so all good.
I have just bought a triple front mech for my steel touring bike but the clamp is waay too big- anyone got any shims or suggest something- seat post dia is 27.2 so guessing seat tube dia is 28.6 (from late research) the mech may even be 34.9. I know this is a big gap so would I be best getting the right size and selling the mach I have?
