Yeah I was gonna go for one of the £12 FGL ones but missed out. Am tempted by it even at full price but I was hoping to get something a bit cheaper.

Do they make a shimano chainwhip for 1/8 cogs? Nearly bought that one off planet x before I spotted it!
-
• #12
just swap the chain with some old track chain.
-
• #13
Do you know anyone who's done this? If its as straight forward as that I'll be ordering one!
-
• #14
I dont now what you mean? if you have a chaintool you just replace it with the 1/8 one. you might not even have to do this. its just the the width thats wider on track chains vs the road chain. Im sure the 3/32 chain will fit on your track cog.
-
• #15
It depends how the chain is actually attached...If the pin is able to be pushed out with a normal chaintool or if its welded in or similar
-
• #16
if its a pin leave the first link there and attach the 1/8 chain to the 3/32 link.
but you wont have to do that. the 3/32 chain will fit a 1/8 cog enough to install it. -
• #17
Fancy tools you guys have there.. I bought the cheapest one I could find on ebay and it works just fine tyvm... :p
£4 delivered or something silly.

the 3/32 chain will fit a 1/8 cog enough to install it.
Surely a smaller 3/32 chain will not engage the teeth of a 1/8 cog as its thicker?!
I'm thinking of getting one of these http://www.velosolo.co.uk/combiwhip.html
Bit optimistic I guess but if anyone's looking to get rid of something similar please let me know.
