I'd ask some Aussies to buy tickets but, what's that skip? All the fucking tickets they had were on sale in motherfucking March and have been spoken for?! Fuck you London Olympics. #shouldagonetosydney

• #278
Maybe the families of 7/7 victims will give away their free tickets?

I'm sorry, but to those of you I know, and to those of you I don't. What's with all the bedwetting?
Despite the bitching and whinging about how much the olympics is costing, and the big I don't want it in my city.IT'S THE FUCKING OLYMPICS!!!
And everyone and their gran was going to put in for tickets, its a system deemed fairest for all, either you got or you didn't. It appears I have got some tickets, for what I don't know, and to tell you the truth I don't really care.
I refer you to my capitalised statement above. I'm not fussed if I get to sit in the cheapest fucking seat, behind a man with a huge afro, whose sitting in front of a pillar. I want to go and enjoy the whole thing, all of it, not just my particular slice of sport preference. The olympics is happening in my home town, and I'm actually young enough to enjoy this fact. And I'm not having all of you bedwetters giving it the big grievance, because you didn't get a ticket, when we all knew it was a fucking lottery. Its a random thing, some might have got some, none or loads.
In an event that was going to be this oversubscribed, despite the hot air being blown out by the press about londoners not being fussed, people are going to lose out.
For all those looking for first come, first served, I refer you to the tweed run thread, where it was and all those bedwetters (can you see that bedwetters is currently my new favourite word) who couldn't get a space, spat the dummy and made it clear "in the interests of fairness" that a lottery system be introduced.
You can't keep everyone happy, and though the mechanisms of the lottery could have been explained better, the system is what it is, and most, if not all of us knew this going in... And if that is the case, getting all outraged of orpington after the fact when no tickets are allocated to you, is a bit fucking rich...
that is all

^ You got tickets. No fucking comments from you thanks, bye bye.
Oh, unless you are offering your tickets to me.. since you don't care about it one way or another?
-
• #281
yeah, but I could just have easily got none, and I wouldn't have spat the dummy like you lot..
and this is the olympics tickets thread not the i didn't get ticket for the olympics, how fucking unfair is that, can I share my grievance thread...
so jog on

You're missing the point. You got tickets.
-
• #284
Worse than not getting tickets is finding out afterwards I could have avoided this whole bullshit GB system and just got my parents to buy proper fucking tickets in Oz. Or I could've gone to France and bought some. None of this lottery bullshit.
-
• #285
I understand the system, I just find it galling that as a London council taxpayer who is having to share some of the costs I didn't get an opportunity to get some tickets ahead of the rest of the country.
I'll still go and see the road cycling events as they are free (although I hear anyone wanting to watch the race on Box Hill will have to pay now).
-
• #286
not missing the point, just because I got tickets, doesn't mean that the amount of spleen venting doesn't get my goat, when I could just as easily not have got tickets, and been on the outside of the stadium looking in. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have got so worked up in a daily mail manner over the system once I'd discovered that I hadn't got what I wanted. The system was, what the system was, get up in arms about it before the event, not after when you haven't benefited from it...
andyp, with you on the preferential londoner aspect, but then the calls that its london centric, south eased bias, that the olympics is for the whole of the country/UK would ring jkust as loud... You'll never be able to please everyone and this system was never going to make it easier for people to deal with their disappointment..
anyway I'm out for a run, before the sun goes behind a cloud..

I for one am not winging about the system, as i believe it is one of the fairest ways to do it, i am merely expressing my dissapointment at not receiving any tickets. Surely you can understand that an internet forum, where many of the members are actively part of more than one olympic sport, is a good place to vent frustration?
I am also lucky enough to have my family home at the base of box hill, so i should get to see some of the road racing, but apart from that, the marathon and tourist bating, there are few sports that are free to enjoy. So unless you take pleasure in the improved transport system, or a great big stadium in your back garden, i'm not sure what there is to enjoy about a local olympics if you didn't get tickets?

I am whinging about the system. I am not going to stop whinging about the system until I have the tickets I wanted.
-
• #289
(although I hear anyone wanting to watch the race on Box Hill will have to pay now).
what have you heard about that Andy? - they are going to find it difficult to enforce that I would have thought
-

I'm going fuckin' Glastonbury on Box Hill.. Storm the fences!!!!!

Whinging Aussie?
Not a new concept

I'm making assumptions based on this statement from LOCOG:
*"In order to protect the environment on the Box Hill Zig Zag, LOCOG ( organising committee), have been asked by the National Trust and Natural England to find ways of mitigating the potential damage to the habitat on that stretch.
Part of this has been to install a fence to secure this area and there will be some managed areas inside of this for spectators."
*In my view 'managed areas' mean entry will be for ticketholders only, as I can't see how else you'd manage it. I might be totally wrong of course.
Box Hill is owned by the National Trust (and the Zig Zag is a private road) and a Site of Special Scientific Interest so I can understand why they are keen to avoid damage. It does make you wonder why it was chosen as part of the road race course though.

4 beach volleyball tickets are the only possible combination for the money that’s come out my account.
I now have to explain to my other half that she wont be going to something cultural.
-
• #296
Fuck the olympics. Im going to keep saying it too. True, if I had been allocated tickets I may not be quite so angry about how they were dished out. But how can someone get £10,000 worth of tickets, yet I cant get any. And I can see the fucking stadium from my balcony.
I am gutted, but more for my son than me (not that he would know what is going on, or even really remember it) I know the system would never be fair, and I know I may sound like a spoilt child. But I'm really upset. So there! -
• #297
as far as i can work out i got track racing at the velo and taequando finals.
-
• #298
corny, I hear what you're saying but... it's still a bit of a fucking farce as far as I can tell. It may be the fairest way, but it's also a fantastically labyrinthine, nerve-racking process and one that lines people up for maximum disappointment. And you don't have to remind people that it's THE FUCKING OLYMPICS... those that have applied for hundreds of pounds worth of tickets and been disappointed will know this as well as anyone.
-
• #299
actually just realised i may have boxing and judo rather than velo and tae
-
• #300
+1 to Corny, and I don't know if I have any tickets or not.
Secondly:
4 beach volleyball tickets
Result, girls teams? Cultural perve?
Horrible cunts.
My wife and I both applied for about £400 worth on seperate emails...... Neither of us got a fucking sniff......
What will wind me up is the fucking corporate cunts who will be offered tickets as part of an incentive or such......vacuous, spunk spittoons, the lot of em!
