I doubt the artists see much of that. Record companies SUCK.
yeah, the money that the artists get per play is very little.
i do like spotify, but i never seem to get into albums properly on it. it's more useful to me as a 'try before you buy' thing, ie i test the waters on spotify and then if i like it and can afford to buy it then i will.
also, it was inevitable that the original free accounts (i had one) would be limited severely if the uptake of the premium accounts was minimal, which it was. i don't think it would have been sustainable at all to carry on like that
