FFS! What size should images be so that they don't thumbnail? I've tried the above at anything between 50 and 500 kb and it always thumbnails. Thumbnails aren't pretty, I don't like them.

its not about kb size its about pixel size, under 1024 x 768, you also have to link to the attachment in the original post with the mountain icon

Love that Merckx with the basket and even more so, your lass' bike Ed. Very fly!

Is that maybe an older picture? I kind of recognise that bike. The geometry, saddle config and even that duck looks like more than a coincidence.
If it is the same bike I'm talking about, then it belongs to a guy I know based in Glasgow. But it has more colours, beads, stickers and a different cockpit now.
But the duck is the best part of it. :D

Ta moochly!
As for the coaster brake thing, I've got one on my rattly beater but I wouldn't do without a front brake too. That said, it's definitely a machine with personality. Those bars are ace.

Did you miss the coaster brake reference?
and that makes it safer than fixed?

Certainly safer than brakless, footretentionless fixed.
Coaster brake - single speed freewheel pedalling forward; to brake pedal backwards. Like on most kids bikes up until the 80s. [/showingmyage]

A lot of kids bikes still have them.

^ and just about every one of the dutch omafiets specimen. millions.

And my bike too.

and that makes it safer than fixed?
yes, yes it does actually, take a lots less effort and quicker to slow down.
the fact it have toe clips on them helped even further making it easier to slow down even if the crank arm is vertical.

maybe i'm not used to it but when i had a quick go on a bike with a coaster brake i thought it was pretty sketchy unless you just cruised along slowly, felt like i had no controll, with fixed i have more control
but anyway...

^ seen it in other threads, brutally beautiful
(maybe a bit too nice for this thread although it had a bare frame and 'bin parts')

^^That looks ace!

that green one is not rat, it's just anti. At best it's just a random collection of parts...
gotta draw the line somewhere.
i'm gonna have to say i agree with malaysian in a way,
the green bike just looks like a random bike covered in stickers, it doesn't look used.
i'm sure it is used, it just doesn't look like it, -

Beater i built up of old parts and spares, rear coaster with front brake. turned out alright. its nice going out and not having to worry about your bike. also the rack is really useful. seatpost is a strange size so the seat cant raise any higher at the moment.

i'm sure it is used, it just doesn't look like it,but bmxed said the owner calls it his beater, he may have a lovely £3000 track bike for all we know, maybe he just built it for a beater and it doesn't look used...yet
its some ones beater, leave it at that
My 1st build... aint nothing but a beater.
