Judo in East London?

  • A colleague of mine has suggested I do Judo and I am quite interested; he lives in Welwyn Garden City so going to his club is not really an option. I have looked on the British Judo Assoc. website for clubs in London but the one's near me (Dalston/Stoke Newington) appear to cater for children and not adults. Does anyone do Judo on here and care to suggest anywhere..?

  • Stratford Judo club is very good. A short ride on the Overground from Dalston.

Alternatively there is a plethora of Brazilian jiujitu clubs all over London if you want to start something that may be easier as an adult. Judo is rough on the joints unless you start young or have aptitude. Even then, it's rough on the joints. BJJ is a lot easier for adults to learn, arguably more fun, and very fashionable at the moment.

I speak as a BJJ player who does a bit of judo to supplement my game.
