This frame is 'awesome' and a bargain. Lovely.
Is 26.4 seatpost size typical for something like plain guage 531? Anyone?
-
• #8
its a weird size indeed !
its a lovely frame and i got many compliments riding it , i especially like the "london se20" headbadge :)
too small for me though ! -
• #9
Repainting it would turn out more expensive than I expected. Sorry for stalling.

I reckon you're right, the 531 come in different thickness.
The missus frame is 26.8 and is double butted, but my Holdsworth is 26.6 of which is plain gauge (I notice this by sticking a long stick inside the seat tube and felt the ridge where the butted section end).
AFAIK 27.2 is just butted.
Quite hard to tell, this is as far as I gather.

According to Hilary Stone, my Freddie Grubb track has a 531 frame and has a 26.4 seatpost too... but I'm not sure I'm convinced.
PM coming re frame.

When you say "easily stretched to 126" did you cold set it or has it sprung back to 120?
Can you also confirm that a standard 10mm axle will slot in to the drops or are they old school 9mm ones?
-
• #22
its currently residing at 120mm
-
• #23
cannot confirm any axle issues but i had vintage campag record hubs ( i guess old school size) and they worked fine ....just tried with more modern campag athena axle and also fits fine .......
