Truing Forks and removing seatpost

  • My forks need truing on my Plug but nowhere out here in the sticks seems to do it, is there anywhere in the city that'll do it?

They are not beyond repair as far as I can see, they're steel and you can only tell they're out when you put a wheel on and it sits off centre.

Secondly, I picked up an old frame with the grand illusion of creating a bespoke piece of beauty however the seatpost was snapped off and the rest of it is seized in the seattube, any tips before I get mildly angry and bash the shite out of it?

  • i was once told to use something called plusgas....i never got round to trying it, but maybe worth a read or see if someone knows more than i do about it.

as the forks, i didn't know you could even true a fork, i thought when they bent, they bent

  • sorry, plus gas not plugas

  • Caustic soda or coke degrade ally seatposts.

And forks, the Donohue guy works with steel/alternatively buy new forks they ain't exactly pricey!
