I've been out of the country the last couple weeks thus the delay in getting this post up.
I was leaving the Handsome Furs gig at The Lexington a couple weeks ago (Monday the 16th) and unlocked me and my girl's bikes from the bike stand (second or third from Pentonville Road on Penton Street). A single-speed conversion fell over that wasn't locked to the other side of the stand. A small cable lock was around the bike stand near the front wheel but not attached to the bike, so it is possible the owner didn't lock it properly. I didn't want to leave it there as some unsavory characters took quick notice when a friend we went to the gig with shrieked "it isn't EVEN LOCKED!"
So I took the bike into the Lexington and held it aloft walking around shouting "who's bike is this?!" Nobody. Walked around and asked people... No dice. Told the barstaff and security the deal and they let me stash it behind the ticket counter near the entrance where I put a note on it. Went back outside and waited around for a bit for somebody to show. Nobody came so we headed home.
Called The Lexington the next day and nobody had claimed the bike, the bar told me they had a sold out show that night and I needed to come in and move the bike. Went back up there about 6:30 or 7pm and collected the bike. Put a flyer up on the bike stand and on the wall outside the Lexington where I found it. Rode the bike home.
The next morning I was out of the country for a couple weeks. I'm back now, I don't have any phone messages and no news from the staff at The Lexington.
Seeing if ya'll might be able to help track down the owner.
If it is yours PM me with a description or photos.
