Don't get me wrong, all of those bad manoeuvres piss me off (the last one was a joke) but filming them all and commentating surely takes it to new levels of pedantry...

Who's that 'DamoDoubleMint' character who took the penultimate video in that? He's not 5'12'', is he?

Definitely. (But I can't help watching them).

  • 5'12" won't be with us for long if they carry on like that. (Neither will Mr 5'30"!)

  • If your ever bored FOI how cycling injury stats are generated.

Edit meaning injuries caused by cyclists to other cyclists or being the cause of the incident.

  • The amount of cyclists who have had near accidents in Mare St, Hackney is too many to count.

Saw a incident where a cyclist who had his headphones on just casually changed lanes from left to right without even looking back to see what traffic was coming. Lucky for him the truck driver had just seen him at the last moment and braked hard.

The cyclist didn't even looked back to see what had happened and just strolled along without a care in the world.

you've already edited this post for 'clarity' and i still don't know what it means!
FOI = freedom of information, or what?

  • Total genius in green shorts and some kind of rapha bib trying to crawl up the left side of a lorry in slow moving traffic, got pinched out and stopped then finally got past near the Homebase in Kensington pausing to give the driver a dirty look (obv couldn't actually see the driver ITS A FUCKING LORRY)

  • Gave a chap on a shopper a quick pep talk at some lights on Bethnal Green Road this morning, after he'd been stopped by a market stall from riding round the left of a bloody concrete mixer of all things. He took it in good heart - bit of luck he'll not do that again.

  • honestly don't think people really understand just how little of a fuck truck drivers give to what they can see, and even less to what they don't!! Undertaking is not correct and certainly not up inside something that will run you over without the driver even realising, people need to wake the fuck up.

Up in in the middle of nowhere people often do the same, but in cars, they cut up, cut in, undertake, dodgy overtake and pull out in front of 42t+ of fast moving steel expecting the truck to just dissapear off the road.
Recently 2 young girls (18/19) were killed outright when they pulled out at 0mph into the path of a 18t royal mail unibody in a ford ka. The truck was doing the limit of only 40mph and even then, there wasn't much of either of them left, I think they had pulled out so late that the truck hadn't even begin to brake until after it had hit them (not truck driver error).
Also 2 young lads (brothers of <20) were killed in the snow and ice of janurary on an icebound (barely passible to car traffic) a road a few miles from here. An old 50 seat coach hit them as they wobbled from the hard shoulder area into the path of the coach. Coach driver was found at fault too as he was driving 40mph+ on an icebound road that even a normal modern road car should have only been doing safely half that.
not quite in the same league but I was nearly erased from the road a few weekends back, riding along a normally quiet seaside road an old granny who could barely see over the wheel cut in on me so closely her wing mirror grazed over the top of my bars, she then clipped a bit of hedge, then carried on, regardless.

  • Mr "MTB" piece of shit bike I do not want to see you get squished by a lorry on my way to work. No, the driver can't see you when you're up the left hand side of him and when the road narrows after the lights and he manages to stop because there is no where for you to go that is your fault not his! I merely pointed out to you that riding like that was going to get you killed, there was no need to laugh in my face.. loser!!

  • I was one of 5 cyclists approaching a red last night, and the only one who stopped. I doubt conversation would've done owt to change their behviour.

I just caught and passed them all once the lights had changed of course. Then blocked the filtering line at the next red. No-one jumped that one. Actions can speak louder than words.

Yes this is always the case for me. So often I am the only one left waiting at a junction at the red light. I often wonder if the car/vans etc, whoever is at the lights too has a bit of respect for me for waiting? Who knows...

  • respect, probably not. but less hatred!
Becauase you aren't going places when they are sat still, they feel more comfortable and less anger towards you for getting one over them*

*people generally take stuff way too personally. like when your driving and someone is barely doing 50 in a 60, so you overtake them, next thing you know, your doing 80 and they are racing up your inside because their pride won't take the hit. eventually you get round and then they soon return to 50 again. its all about pride.

  • calling me out. rolled slowly thru an empty junction earlier, only to spot it wasn't empty half way over. not really a close call but still my bad and two local drivers now hate all those pesky rule breaking cyclists...

  • Why do cyclists do that.. I totally understand making a right turn with the pedestrians to avoid a sketchy mid-intersection pause later but rolling straight ahead?

Edit: that was a bit ranty.

  • GETTING TO THE LIGHTS FIRST

Every time some tit (or tits) flys past as I'm cruising to a stop for the lights, do they not realise they'll save their rims and pads if they look ahead and coast rather than sprintin everywhere an slamming the brakes on? AND when I'm waiting in a safe position for lights to change hordes of twats always push past and block all the cars slowing EVERYONE down. Fucking pathetic. Not to mention cars and scooters etc who cut you up when you're 10m from the line. WHY?

I have a plan. I'm gonna buy loads of cheap little trophies from a sports shop and every time some tit barges past me so they can sit triumphantly at the front of the queue like a tool, I present them with a little award and say "well done! you got to the lights first! Have a fucking Medal!" and I'm gonna hire a queen tribute act to play "We are the Chaampions" from the pavement.

Actually, anyone know a good place to buy loads of tacky little "1st" medals, for like a sportsday or whatever. I'm seriously gonna do this. Had enough. Rant over.

  • ^ seriously, I've got 50 each of gold, silver, and bronze toy medals.

unfortunately they're charity-branded (charanded?) for the project I work on, and earmarked for future use, so I can't let you have some, else I would.

  • apologies if this is a repost...

  • It made me think on leaving the house, oh today should be a nice ride in, people will be going slow, taking it easy, being considerate.

    Will they bollocks.

More idiots on the road than normal.
Saw two near misses today, got cut up the inside by a lycra Larry and at Holborn junction just as the lights changed heading towards Shaftsbury/New Oxford Street some complete moron came whizzing from the right the wrong way up a one way street and turned right just in front of me.

Sorry for the venting, just needed to get it out.

Its dangerous out there today, look out for eachother and please cycle safely
