Everyone should do it - some just like to fiddle with their bikes too much.
If you're planing on leaving your bike locked outside for any time longer than it takes to buy a slush puppie or some Amber Leaf, then you should invest in pitlocks, one big d-lock like Krypto Fahg, one secondary like mini-d or chain and perhaps either glue the ball bearings in or get a wire for your saddle.
