My Cousin Got Shot/ Munib Masri

Yep.
So my cousin Munib got shot on a peaceful protest recently.
The details currently are sketchy at best, but he was surrounded by kids and families on a very peaceful protest, and was unlucky to be hit.

The bullet entered his body, splitting into shrapnel and bits taking out a kidney, spleen and his spine.
He's out of ICU, but may not regain his full use of his leg.

He's a lovely kid and a close close friend, as well as being my cousin.

Terrible news but thank goodness he's still alive. Sounds like he has good family around him and I hope he makes a full recovery.

The most recent update is that it's unlikely that he will walk again with full capability, but it's not clear whether its full paralysis or one sided yet.

I really hope your cousin heals up as well as is possible. And that the Israeli regime eventually gains some compassion and is willing to talk seriously about peace.

The definition of Zionist has been prone to drift. Even in the 70s the views of (for example) Noam Chomsky were within the range of acceptably Zionist ideologies, but now I get the impression that you have to be a particularly abhorrent chauvanist to get into the elite win club.

I just got a facebook message from him the other day.
He's in good spirits, and I'm looking forward to seeing him sometime soon.

The best thing is to refacebook it or whatever the expression is, just to get the word out.
He comes from a family heavily involved in Palestinian politics, we're all hoping his grand dad, and namesake (or Big Munib as we call him) is going to take the prime ministership....

but thanks for all the support, it means a lot.
I will keep this thread informed if any protest type things occur/ are planned.

I sat in the cafe and watched Israelis shooting demonstrators yesterday. Their tactics appear to be to shoot to kill and injure and then use tear gas to attempt to disperse.
The demonstrators seemed undeterred and continued to throw stones at soldiers who were regularly shooting to kill.

Kill first and then use teargas?
