How to Get an Avatar and Make Your Profile Pretty

Also having massive trouble uploading/using a hosted image.

I made my avatar 64pxl x 64pxl and tried uploading it, upload failed. I also tried hosting it on imageshack, and it said "remote file too large".

If you have an Android phone, with the "barcode scanner" app... you can scan the screen.

That one above, has the text "Allez L'Quiche"

Avatars are restricted to:
64 pixels wide
64 pixels high
6KB in file size

You had the heigh and width OK, but the file size is 14KB

Have I completely missed the reason why several people have adopted this style of avatar?

also used to add people on blackberry messenger. its called a QR code.

Yes, as a non-mobile phone user, I wouldn't know any of that. :)

My avatar changed itself a couple of days ago to the correct one and now its changed back to my old one :(

ok I have a question. when not logged in and viewing as a guest I can normally see peoples avatars...but as soon as i log in they go. this happens on my android nexus one. home laptop and work pc. wos occurring? have a got a setting ticked that shuts them off? i cant see anything in the user cp.

Jaitch, go to 'edit options' scroll down to the section entitled 'thread display options; visible post elements' then check that you have the options ticked. Should work after this.

It's still possible. Most likely the address for that page has changed and Velocio hasn't updated it.

That link should work otherwise go to the top of the page and click on "User CP" on the line below 4th one across should be "Edit your avatar"

You need to tick a certain box in your preferences. I'm not entirely sure where but it's standard for the avtars not to be visible. Spend a few minutes going through it away, you might find other stuff to fiddle with

I seem to be having problems uploading a new avatar. If I try to upload the avatar I get an "Upload failed" error. If I try to use it from an online source I get "Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file."

As far as I can tell, the avatar meets all the requirements:

Am I missing something?

I find the online upload works if you try it a couple of times.

Ah, it would seem that revisiting the User CP and trying again via the online method has worked. Thanks :)
