Stain on frame

  • Morning.
This yellow streak has appeared on my white Bob Jackson frame. Its not been built up and used and has been stored indoors out of direct sunlight. It seems to be 'in' the actual paintwork so can't be removed. I noticed the first streak some months ago and now another one has appeared. Anyone know what this might be ?
    Apolgies for poor pics.

  • I have the same frame in white also, checked it and have nothing like that... However paint chips like a bitch and it doesn't take much to ding the tubing, be ultra careful

  • Internal bleeding?

  • Internal bleeding?

Thanks dmczone - Internal bleeding makes sense but then I don't really know what Internal bleeding in a bike frame is. Rust ?

Will have a word with the Bob Jackson people.

  • Weird indeed. They look very regular. The only thing I can think of is moisture under the paintwork. Did you buy new or secondhand?

It was secondhand but the guy I bought it from (3 years ago) bought it new and only used it a few times on the track. The frame looks 'as new' - not the slightest mark on it (except for these yellow streaks which appeared within the last few months).

  • Do you use one of those bike stands with the jaw that holds the top tube?
This marking is suggestive of a pressure point from this type of jaw. Hence, the length of the marking.

    Ha! (only 2 weeks later).

I Googled around and eventually discovered a post on some bike forum where some chap was asking about the marks left on his and his wifes white frames after the bikes had been transported on a car rack thingy with rubber protective pads.
I do indeed use a bike stand with the jaw that holds the top tube. The jaw/clamp is some sort of rubber compound and the Jackson has been held in it.
So the next thing is how to remove the stain.

    Thanks
