what a very sensible article

I would have to walk 10k before getting to the nearest hire bike stand. There's my argument.

I would like a car but they are not necessary. I've moved house without them - people just need to get clever and htfu a bit.

There's the issue. There really aren't enough of them. Still, isn't this about cars?
