I could have rented a van, true- I am a member of a popular hourly van rental scheme.
It would have taken ~4 hours out of my day though, having the choice to jump into my car and go saved me around 2.5 hours.
You can never get more time.
By the same token now that you can rent a Boris Bike why choose to own one?
