• Hi

    A couple of questions:

I am looking to use these adaptors

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=28896&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=Google-Products-UK

    on some of these -
    Northwave vertigo pro's

    Has anyone used these adaptors?

    And

Has anyone tried these stabilising adaptors with the above adaptors?
    Shimano SPD Cleat Stabilizing Adapter

    SH-70/71 road SPD cleat

    OR

Will these solve all my problems?
    Sidi Dura-ace Pedal Adaptor

    Thanks

  • You haven't actually stated the problem that needs solving.

  • I want to use MTB cleats on a road shoe and looking at my options.. Protecting the cleat would also be a necessity..

So my problem is finding the best option to fulfil my needs.

  • No one used these? Or know any other options?

  • Why do you want to do this?

It would seem that you would be creating and then battling no end of problems for yourself- the contact area of a very small cleat designed to work recessed into a sole, without the benefit of it being recessed into a sole, for example?

  • If you want double sided pedals then there are Speedplay Zero's

  • I dont really think it's complicated?

Just need the adapters - as long as its all tight shouldn't make too much difference.. ill be 5mm or so off the pedal.

  • Or spend 50-60 notes on some shoes designed for the purpose like Shimano touring range

  • surely unless you're actually riding somewhere really muddy the main benefit of mountain bike pedals is the ability to still walk in the shoes. You're negating this.

  • Or I could spend a 10er and get what I want. £55 odd isn't really in my budget as a student..

    Does anyone have anything constructive?

  • and then another £15 in a month, and £15 the month after that etc when you're wearing through your cleats from walking on them.
SPD shoes can often be had for very cheap on ebay, then you'd just need to buy the pedals which can also often be had for cheap second hand.

  • You could probably get some mtb spd shoes for not much more. You don't need to spend £50.
£20 would probably do it if you look around.

The adaptors are all shit BTW

  • Or a set of road pedals. SPD-SLs and a set of cleats would be sub-£50

  • I don't intend on running a marathon in them, ill be waring other shoes in between my commute.

Just thought i would get some protection from something like the Sidi Dura-ace Pedal Adaptor and making it a bit easier to walk..

I thought someone may of had some experience with these adapters..

  • I've never seen or heard of anyone using cleat adapters. But they exist so someone must have..

  • Thats what I thought..

  • L O L. Brilliant.

  • I just got myself some Sidis which take both MTB and road cleats (ie. my old time Atacs and also Shimano/look style plastic cleats), and while I'm waiting for road cleats to arrive in the post I've been using my atacs on them. Without the tread on the sole, the tiny cleat is sketchy as all hell, especially clipping in at traffic lights. I wouldn't recommend this in any way. Get some mtb shoes if you want to use mtb cleats.
