before posting the bike, I expected it to sell for that amount at the most. Nicer bikes have gone for less. If people have a higher fixed amount that they want, they should sell their bikes elsewhere were they can avoid the ebay fees or strip for parts. Now that he knows your willingness to pay, he'll probably have one of his mates bid on it.
