Admittedly, that omelette looks rank, but I've made some truly magnificent omelettes by this method. I have at least 3 omelettes a week now, on top of my regular 3-egg breakfast. I'm single-handedly decimating the baby chicken population.

A modern breed of laying hen, will produce 1 egg a day in optimal conditions. So if you look at the pallet loads of eggs, literally thousands per day, per grocery store. Remember that each one of those eggs is a "days work" for a hen,(and that after two years it will get the chop for no longer being optimally productive) You get an idea of how many chickens there are in the UK alone.
If you eat 5 eggs per day, you have at least 5 hens working JUST for you at any one time. And thats not including whatever birds they are using to produce your replacement hens.
