Front tyre to downtube clearance can be reduced by a mild frontal collision.

i personly cover my tyres with another tyre on top untill the gap is closed,
i'm running 700c with a 23c-24c-26c-28c-30c-32c-35c stretched over the top,
i have no puntures ever, its awsome.

Why would you even want to do this?
-
• #55
Lips, surely you want to prevent getting punctured don't you?

You mad bro? You scared of getting sensible?
You'd need 35mm Randonneurs and SKS mudguards then.

your question was inversely gifted, it deserved the treatment it received

I don't want no rep, but thanks anyway. Too much rep is a bad bad thing.

Repped for what? Giving advice that any of us could have given?

Giving rep not for being funny is a bad form.

I not mad, it's just that I was fully open to all the advice. It's lucky that my local library was open for me to cross reference some stuff. Now i can see The magnet thing was pretty funny <_<

Won't be for much longer. Thanks, Dave...

I'm amazed that you local library is well stocked on books on bicycle frame design and modification techniques, and that you find it a better way to find and check niche facts than the interwebs.

Put a block of butter under the crown. This will reduce the clearance to 0mm and reduce friction enough to allow the tyre to glide through.

Had this problem myself brought a new set crome cromoly forks off eBay that should do the job. There threaded to I'm guessing that's what you'll be wanting. Just gotta wait for them to arrive from America! :( hope I don't get taxed this time.

I really want to, but it's a bit crap right now. I found it in a skip so it will need respraying! It's the only bike Ive got so I want to make sure it's all working great and built to size. Also there's no bottom bracket but I'll be able to sort that myself :]
I'll be the 'dad' then.
As you found it in a skip, unless you're very lucky, it's made out of gas pipe and doesn't fit you properly. I'd really just get it in to a rideable state, and if you do want to spend money on it, make sure it's on parts you can transfer over on to a new frame.
I really, really, wouldn't worry about the clearence on your front fork

Well said dad.
Having clearance isn't a 'problem' unless your trying to make out your Unipack is a Pista Concept. And if that's the case your only fooling bigger fools than you.

Cromoly forks from America? Can't you get em from UK or is it coz the price was cheaper?

Thnx for the advice ste!
The frame seems fine, no cracks or dings, but until I get it ridden I guess I won't know if it's a fit. Also youre correct about the transfer parts, part. I'll keep it in mind fo sho!
