as vandal, looks like a fair old dink in it.
You can't hurt but try, looks like the rim is chromo too? if so you'll probably be surprised by how far out of true and back again you can go with those things.
I would be confident that you could get that wheel back in 90% as good as it could be, as the rim itself will be a little stretched/ bent so 100% perfect roundness/trueness will be almost unobtainable. although few town bikes ever have straight wheels for long :/
